Mustad Fly Tying Competition

Competition Regulations


1. This competition is open to all fly tiers, both professional and amateurs. The members of the jury or the jury’s family cannot participate. You can participate in the following 2 classes:

a): Juniors: For tiers 16 years or younger.
b): For tiers older than 16 years.

2. Tiers of the 3 best flies, independent of categories, in the junior class, will receive prizes. For seniors, the tiers of the 3 best flies in each catagory will receive prizes.

3. Each participant may enter only one fly in each category.

4. Flies with feathers and fur from animals mentioned in the CITES appendixes, (jungle cock, parrots, bustard, etc.), must have a CITES export-permit to document the legality of the material used. If an export permit (original document - no copy) does not follow flies containing "CITES-materials", the fly will be disqualified.

5. All flies in all 10 categories must be tied on a Mustad hook.
6. All flies must be clearly marked with:

a): Category entered (1 - 10).
b): Name of the fly.
c): A written description in English of the feathers, hairs, etc. used in the fly.
(Pattern).
d): Your name, age, address and e-mail.
e): Classes according to your age: a): Junior. b): Senior.

7. Deadline: March 15th. 2005.

8. Flies entered in the competition are the property of the Norwegian Forest Museum.

9. Flies that are entered in the wrong category, will be disqualified.

10. We appeal to you to use Mustad hooks for all categories of the competition. The best fly tied on a Mustad hook (salmon categories excluded) will receive a prize, and the fly and fly-tyer will be presented on the Mustad website.

11. The Mustad Company are entitled to use pictures of any flies that have entered the competition in electronic and pritnted media.

12. All correspondence must be in English.

13. On your package: Write Fishing Flies as the contents of the package. You must also state the value of the flies.

14. There is no entrance fee for the competition.
